The Curious Cat

The Story

Author Lewis Carroll came across Alice Donkin at Barmby Moor House, Pocklington. She would become the inspiration for the character of Alice in his fictional tale ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Barmby Moor House was the original home of The Hooting Owl Gin Distillery, and so, these two stories collide to create the Cheshire Cat logo for the The Curious Cat Drinks Company. In Lewis’s story, lost in Wonderland Alice comes across the Cheshire Cat, a whimsical character who is her guide.  Alice asked the Cheshire Cat who was sitting in a tree, “What road do I take?” The Cat asked, “Where do you want to go?” “I don't know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the Cat, “it really doesn't matter, does it."
